Member Etiquette & Code of Conduct
Standards exist to protect the atmosphere, the venue, and the people who make the Club what it is.
Club Nocturne is a Private Members experience held at Maison Carlton, Southampton.
Membership assumes understanding, not reminders.
1. Respect the Room
- Members are expected to treat fellow members, guests, staff, performers, and venue partners with courtesy at all times.
- Disruptive, aggressive, or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated.
- Club Nocturne is about presence, discretion, and shared experience... not entitlement.
2. Entry & Membership
- Membership grants eligibility to attend Club Nocturne but does not guarantee entry on any given day or event.
- Entry, refusal of entry, or removal from the Club is always at the discretion of Club Nocturne management and venue security, without the requirement to provide explanation.
3. Dress Code & Presentation
- Dress codes may vary by event and will be communicated in advance.
- Members are expected to make an effort. Presentation is part of the experience.
- Office attire, suits, lounge jackets, smart/dress jeans, shirts and blouses are part of the norm.
- Sportswear, hoodies, overly casual attire, soiled or any clothing deemed inappropriate for the atmosphere will result in refusal of entry.
Effort is noticed — So is the lack of it — Dress to Impress
4. Phones, Photography & Filming
- Photography is permitted provided it is discreet and does not intrude on the enjoyment of other members.
- Members must not photograph or film other individuals without their clear consent.
- Flash photography, excessive filming, or intrusive phone use is discouraged.
- Club Nocturne reserves the right to restrict photography at specific moments or events.
Capture the moment — don't become the moment
5. Privacy & Discretion
- Members are expected to respect the privacy of others at all times.
- What happens at Club Nocturne stays within Club Nocturne, socially, digitally, and professionally.
- Sharing stories, images, or information that compromises another member's privacy or reputation is unacceptable.
Discretion is not a rule — It is the point
6. Conduct & Substances
- Illegal substances are strictly prohibited.
- Excessive intoxication, unsafe behaviour, or conduct that detracts from the atmosphere will result in immediate removal from the Club.
- Any form of harassment — verbal, physical, or otherwise — will not be tolerated and may result in permanent termination of membership.
No drama — No warnings — No second chances
7. Staff & Security
- Club Nocturne staff and Maison Carlton venue security act on behalf of the Club at all times.
- Their decisions are final and must be respected.
- Failure to comply may result in removal, suspension, or termination of membership.
8. Opening Hours & Club Closures
- Club Nocturne operates from 9:00am to 11:00pm.
- The Club Room closes promptly at 11:00pm.
- Members are also welcome to continue their experience at Nocturne Bar on the Ground Floor.
- Club Nocturne will be closed on the following days of the year: Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day, and, from Good Friday to Easter Monday inclusive.
- Club Nocturne will also be closed on dates when Property Buy Out events are booked.
- These events mean that all facilities within Maison Carlton and No.4 Carlton Hotel are reserved for the exclusive use of one party.
- Members will be advised well in advance of any Property Buy Out closures.
- Such bookings will not exceed 10 dates within a calendar year.
9. Breach of Etiquette
- Club Nocturne reserves the right to suspend or revoke membership without refund where etiquette or conduct standards are breached.
- Serious or repeated breaches may result in permanent removal from the membership register.
Private means private — Standards matter
